In Banafrut we believe that when natural methods do not work, sometimes the only to successfully control pests is by using chemicals.
In the case of Sigatoka, a fungus that attacks the plantations, so far the only way it has been carefully controlled in the Urabá region is through aerial spraying.
Hence, our need to establish the Caaisa Fumigation Company in 2012 in partnership with another company in the sector. This has allowed us to minimize the number of sprayings, while controlling the use of agrochemicals at the lowest level of toxicity, certified by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), producing healthy bananas, appropriately managing the ecosystem and improving the welfare of our workers and employees.
