Sustainable Production
Thanks to our certifications, we guarantee our commitment to produce fruit in a clean, environmentally friendly manner, thus obtaining a final product that is the result of a process that complies not only with labour standards and laws, but also with respect for the environment.
We preserve water sources, by controlling water consumption in the entire process of banana production. This consumption is regulated by both Corpouraba, the State environmental corporation, as well as through quality certifications.
Recycling
The company has a recycling plant for fruit rejected as unsuitable for export, which – through a composting process – becomes organic matter and returns to the plantations as fertilizer.
The company has appropriate methods to process all the waste that results in the process to produce fruit.
As an illustration, plastic and nylon are donated to cooperatives, mainly composed of single mothers, to produce other types of products, such as tubes and poles. Likewise, both chemical residue as well as their recipients are destroyed in accordance with the standards established by the environmental law of our country, which obligates these products to be processed in specialized plants.
While respecting labour standards, there are guarantees about unions (90% of the socialized labour force), access to health, pension, and rest or vacation periods. Likewise, child labour is prohibited, in accordance with the legal standards of the Ministry of Labour in our country.
