Many of our bananas are grown for us in Colombia by a group of farms called Banafrut.
Every banana we buy is from a Fairtrade farm were the workers and their communities receive extra money from each box of bananas.
This money funds social improvement schemes.
Maria (right) has been working in the packing facilities for over twenty years. Her two children have been able to attend a further education college and qualify as professionals thanks to education grants funded with Fairtrade.
Felicia (below right) now lives in a new house.
The construction of her home was subsidized by Fairtrade funding, meaning home ownership stake has become affordable for her and for every Banafrut worker. Felicia’s children, Juan and Ana receive student grants that will enable them to reach their potential at college.
